Membership, Dan KB8A: Our guest, Ken W8SRF from Valley City, will be
sending in his application for membership shortly. Steve KB8ZNT has
    rejoined the Club.

Nets, Fred N8AHS: Sunday evening 8:00 pm net is getting 10 to 15 checkins.
Wednesday evening 7:00 pm, early check ins 6:45 pm
Tech net has great technical discussions.

Public Service, Joe N8QXC: Participation in the Cleveland marathon.

Programs, Tom K8DMM: No programs until this fall (September, October).
Recommend watching You Tube video “Patrolling the ether in
WWII.” Radio intel for the war effort. Rick K8SCI requests that
the link for the video be posted on the Club Facebook page.

Sunshine, Fred N8AHS: Virden Clark Beckman N8PZD passed away on
June 5th, 2024.Clark has helped the Club over
the years. His obituary is available at the Bush
    Funeral Home website.

Technical, Rick K8SCI: The 145.29 repeater’s audio has been good since
replacing the molded RCA plug with a soldered plug. Have not verified if
the 224.76 repeater audio problem has been fixed with the aforementioned
changes. Joe N8QXC and Fred N8AHS will check if the problem has

been fixed. The ARRL repeater directory still has the incorrect call sign
for the Club repeater and will be looked into.

Website, Rick K8SCI: Updated QRZ.com website with current information
about the Club. The ARRL Ohio section web page has a working link to the
    Club website.

Field Day, Tom K8DMM: A group went to the field day site to check
antennas and it would be advisable to not have extension cables to the
antennae, as we are only running 5A battery QRP, and the loss introduced
by longer cable lengths would degrade power to the antenna. Sixteen
emails were sent out to various entities informing them of field day in
hopes of them visiting the site. Some of those are Valley City, Brunswick
Hills Township, and Medina Township trustees, police chiefs, and fire
chiefs. Have received responses from Valley City assistant fire chief, and
three trustees from Medina Township. There will be a separate log sheet
for visitors and for operators. Will have a FT-8 station for extra points.
Governor DeWine has declared June 22nd and 23rd as Amateur Radio
Operators Appreciation Days, a copy of which will be displayed on the
public relations table. The network and a FT-8 station will be set up
and tested on June 15th to assure proper operation during field day at
Tom’s (K8DMM) QTH. Norb N8KJT will bring food after noon and around
6 pm on the 22nd and after operations on the 23rd. Fred N8AHS has
ordered the port a potty. Additionally, extra points can be had for
posting to social media during operations.

Old Business, Tom K8DMM: Continuing to work on Club equipment inventory.

the Metro Park Bonnie Park Facility in Strongsville, Ohio. A trustee meeting
will be held at 6:45pm, and membership meeting at 7:00 pm.

Tom WD8EFF.  Meeting adjourned at 19:54.

At Metropark Bonnie Park Facility, Strongsville, Ohio.

Meeting opened by NCARC President Wayne NC8F at 19:07.

There were 9 members in attendance: Wayne NC8F, Joe N8QXC,
Rob WB2BTI, Char SWL, Fred WB8UDA, Paul WB8CYI, Dan KB8A,
Mary Lou K8MLS, and Fred N8AHS.

A motion to approve the minutes of June 13, 2024 as published
was made by Joe N8QXC, and second by Rob WB2BTI.
 Motion passed.

Treasurers report, Dan KB8A: Money in the bank, bills are paid.
A treasurers report and current roster was emailed to membership.
A bill for the rental of a port-a-potty for $218.83 for field day was
approved for payment to Fred N8AHS, pending a receipt to be sent
to Dan.  A bill for food purchased for field day by Norb N8KJT will be
submitted at the next meeting.  Federal and State tax forms were
filed July 17, 2024.

Fundraising, Fred WB8UDA: None.

Membership / Recruiting:  The membership applications at field day
were older versions with an incorrect address.  If there are any old
applications left, please dispose of them and be sure to use ones
with current information.

Nets, Wayne NC8F: At 20:01, the Sunday Net was not yet started.  Also,
the repeater was accidentally taken out of net mode making for a
confusing, unstructured Net experience.  Wayne apologizes for the
problems with the Net. When you go to check into the Net, you should
do so assuming you may need to be Net control.  Prepare yourself for
this eventuality.  More Net controllers are needed.
The Wednesday evening (19:00) Technical Net topic was HOA
antennas, but there were no check-ins. We would like at least 12 to
15 check-ins. The purpose of the Nets is to drive membership through
participation in the Nets. We should all check-in if at all possible. If you
can’t, advertise our Nets on other club’s nets if you check into theirs.

Public Service, Fred N8AHS: August 10th and 11th, 2024 is the Bike MS:
Pedal to the Point starting in Berea, Ohio. Please volunteer if you can.
Information is available at n8esg.org.

Programs, Fred N8AHS: None.

Technical: None.

Web Site: As Rick K8SCI is the only one authorized to attend to the club
website, a backup of credentials should be kept with Dan KB8A if the
need arises for someone else to attend to the website.

Field Day: Tom K8DMM has submitted the results for field day to the
ARRL, and a copy was emailed to the membership.

Old Business, Wayne NC8F: Club business cards should be ready by
the next meeting.

New Business, Joe N8QXC:  There is some old equipment at Fred
N8AHS’s house that should be sold off at a hamfest and use the
proceeds to purchase new equipment.  Additionally, the club HF
radio could be lent out. This should be advertised on any nets
members frequent.  A motion to sell excess gear at the Cleveland
Hamfest and Computer Show at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds
on Sunday, September 22, 2024, and to allocate money for tables
was made by Joe N8QXC, and second by Fred WB8UDA.
 Motion passed.

An amendment to the motion to have the club pay for the admission
fees for those manning the tables was made by Dan KB8A and second
by Joe N8QXC. Amendment passed.

Wayne NC8F: It’s important and a priority to invest in internet access
at the repeater site in order to get Echolink and Allstar up and running,
and also to find out if the repeater has an interface for a local computer
to accomplish this.  In an effort to determine if internet access is available
through cell carriers, Dan KB8A and Rob WB2BTI will go to the repeater site
to see if T-Mobile has a strong enough signal for internet access.

Dan KB8A: The September and October meetings will be on the third
Thursday of the month, however the November meeting will be on the
second Thursday, as the thirdThursday was not available at the
Strongsville Library, Strongsville, Ohio.

The next meeting will again be a picnic meeting at Metropark Bonnie Park
Facility, Strongsville, Ohio on August 15, 2024 at 19:00.

A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Joe N8QXC, and second by
Fred WB8UDA.  Meeting adjourned at 20:01.

NCARC Membership Meeting August 15, 2024.

At Metropark Bonnie Park Facility, Strongsville, Ohio.

Meeting opened by President Wayne NC8F at 19:05.

There were 10 members in attendance at the Park: Joe N8QXC,
Wayne NC8F, RobWB2BTI, Fred WB8UDA, Fred N8AHS, Char SWL,
Dan KB8A, Mary Lou K8MLS, Paul WB8CYI, and Tom K8DMM.
There were 4 Guests: Bill K8VMC, John KD8QMU, Terry and Marsha.

Motion to approve the minutes of July 18, 2024 as published made
by Joe N8QXC, and second by Rob WB2BTI. Motion passed.

Treasurers report, Dan KB8A: Money in the bank, bills are paid.
Current roster and treasurers report emailed to members. There is
one new member, Steve KB8ZNT.

Field Day, Tom K8DMM: The club’s field day score will be published
in the December, 2024 issue of QST.

Fundraising/Membership, Fred WB8UDA: Working on fundraising;
one new member, Steve KB8ZNT.

Nets, Fred N8AHS: New recruits for net control are needed. More
participation is requested, along with mentioning the club’s nets on
other club nets.

Wayne NC8F, Public Service: Participated in the MS150 Pedal to the
Point marathon this past weekend (August 10-11).

Technical, Dan KB8A: Cell internet service at the repeater site is
available only through AT&T. Will check if a strong enough signal is
present inside the building. If so, internet service would be $60 per
month.  A voice line would also be needed for EchoLink. One may
be possible using a Magic Jack, which would cost $50 for 15 months.

Website, Tom K8DMM: If anything is not correct on the club website,
let Rick K8SCI know. As Rick is not home at this time and he is the only
person updating the website, it would be prudent to have at least one
other person authorized to do so. Dan KB8A has the needed credentials
to give if there is a volunteer.

Old Business, Wayne NC8F: The club business cards were misprinted and
new ones will be available by next meeting.

Regarding the Cleveland Hamfest at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds on
September 22nd, 2024 the club will pay for tables to be set up to sell
excess club equipment, as well as the admission cost for those who will
sit at the tables. Tentatively, Fred N8AHS and Wayne NC8F will have two
 tables each.

New Business, Joe N8QXC: Help is needed on Saturday, August 17 at
noon to assemble an antenna for Ken W8SRF, and on a later date to
assist in mounting the antenna on a fiberglass 30 foot mast. Tom K8DMM
will send out an email to the membership with details.

Tom K8DMM: In an effort to expand amateur radio as a whole and club
membership in particular, it’s necessary to encourage young people to
join the hobby. Going forward, we as a club can encourage this by
sponsoring youth radio clubs at schools. The club can donate some excess
equipment to this end. Joe N8QXC will investigate the possibility to have a
school radio club at St. Joseph’s Catholic school.  Tom will author a program
to be presented during a future club meeting regarding how to set up a
school radio club.

Bill K8VMC discussed challenges in setting up EchoLink on the club’s 145.29
repeater.

The Next club meeting will be September 19, 2024 at the Strongsville Library,

Strongsville, Ohio. Wayne NC8F will present a program at the meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 19:53.
